BANGALORE: Employees in sunrise sectors like communication, energy, healthcare and pharma have taken home higher salary packages compared to their counterparts in the IT/ITeS sectors.
Salaries have risen in excess of 10.8% in the sunrise sectors. Besides this, the energy, healthcare and pharma industries have recruited 21% more temporary workers in 2008 compared to 2007, according to a study by TeamLease, a staffing and manpower solutions provider.
During the last two quarters, hiring of temporary hands recorded a 25-30% growth. This has fallen abruptly to 4-6% in the third quarter. There was a 14% year-on-year growth in recruitment of temporary hands last year, but the sudden fall in Q3 numbers could bring down the average to 7.5%, said Rajesh AR, vice-president, temporary staffing, TeamLease Services.
